I am speaking with 21-year-old Ghanaian innovator Federick Abila, a second-year student of computer science and engineering at the University of Mines and Technology (UMaT) in Ghana's Western Region. He has just returned to his room after launching a hackathon for over 70 young Ghanaians, challenging them to create software applications that tackle specific Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with the competition set to conclude in mid-August.
